Ceer, Saudi Arabia’s first electric vehicle (EV) brand and original equipment manufacturer (OEM), has awarded a SAR 5 billion (USD 1.3 billion) contract for the construction of the Ceer Electric Vehicle Manufacturing Complex in King Abdullah Economic City to Saudi company Modern Building Leaders (MBL).

The agreement focuses on building a cutting-edge facility, spanning over 1 million square meters, and includes a covered area of 530,000 square meters. It will boast dedicated zones for every stage of vehicle production, including a press shop, body shop, paint shop, and general assembly. The complex will also feature dedicated zones for logistics, waste management, warehouses, offices, a water treatment system, and a vehicle test track.

Jim DeLuca, CEO of Ceer, said: “We are delighted to witness the realization of our vision to ignite Saudi Arabia’s mobility industry, beginning with the construction of the Ceer Electric Vehicle Manufacturing Complex. This complex will be a benchmark for industrial excellence within the region and globally. It will feature the best technologies, equipment, and people, supported by partnerships with global industry leaders such as Dürr, Schuler, Siemens, ABB, and many more.”

Ceer – a joint venture between PIF and Foxconn, with BMW as its component technology provider – will utilize advanced systems. This reflects PIF’s commitment to unlocking the capabilities of promising sectors locally while shaping the future global economy. Additionally, the EV company is supporting Saudi Arabia’s target to reach net zero emissions by 2060, and PIF’s own net zero emissions target by 2050.
